April 2009

After the success of the Thai Floating Market last week our club has is still finding new things to do. We are currently entertaining our guests from Thailand. These students are not official exchange students with the UW, but are visiting the United States from the Nan province (น่าน). Nan is famous for Wat Phra That Chae Hang (วัดพระธาตุแช่แห้ง), which is a 55 metre-high golden Chedi (pictured above) containing a Holy Relic from Sukhothai. It is also known for its high quality of woven materials (ผ้าทอพื้นเมืองน่าน), which are distinctively different in terms of designs and production methods from other localities. The most famous pattern is the Lai Nam Lai (ผ้าลายน้ำไหล) which resembles waves or stairs.

Because we did not want to bore our guests with Seattle's Thai cuisine - the club has decided to treat our guests with a snazzy meal in downtown Seattle. So remember to check your e-mails.
